Synopsis
Susan is the only daughter and true heiress of an East Coast mafia family. Her late elder brother was the most respected heir; Ellie is his widow. After marrying Owen, Susan remains childless—unaware that Owen secretly had a vasectomy so Ellie’s unborn child could inherit the brother’s full rights. While Susan endures painful fertility treatments, Owen pretends to be away on business but actually accompanies Ellie to prenatal appointments. He constantly sides with Ellie and humiliates Susan. When Susan learns the truth, her parents stop her from retaliating, insisting Ellie’s child is their only “golden grandson.” As a barren woman, Susan is deemed inferior. Torn by memories of her brother once risking his life to save her, she grows completely disillusioned. She demands a divorce and tries to leave, but Owen refuses, still clinging to her while favoring Ellie. The final revelation destroys everything: Ellie’s child is not the brother’s. Years earlier, Ellie, fearing Susan had caught her affair, tried to kill her in a staged accident. The brother arrived in time, saved Susan, and died instead. Ellie then systematically won over Susan’s parents, driving the family apart. With their only daughter gone and the “heir” exposed as a fraud, Owen loses all support and begs desperately—but Susan boards a private jet and never looks back.
