Synopsis
Bored with courtly shackles, young King Damon disguises himself as a vagrant and travels north to observe his people's lives. Stricken with fever on the road, he collapses and is saved by Elena, an apothecary apprentice who nurses him back with bread and medicine. Meanwhile, Elena catches her fiancé Caleb in an affair with her cousin Mira and is publicly jilted. To fulfill her dying grandmother's final wish, she enters a contract marriage with Damon — a man she has known for only two days — and the two play the part of a devoted couple.
